  With
team briefing people will understand what is happening, why
and why their contribution is so important. With energy and enthusiasm flowing
from the top the whole organisation will be positively charged and united behind
a shared vision. Internal relationships are improved, and with a two way team
briefing communication process, senior management can assess the needs
and expectations of their people. The essence of team briefing
is to channel corporate communications , e.g., policies, strategies,
operating performance, prospects, standards, behavioural issues, market conditions,
corporate strengths and weaknesses etc. The team briefing process underlines the
importance of the leader, raises morale and gives a sense of common purpose to
the team. However, the success of team briefing largely depends on the enthusiasm
and ability of the 'briefers', rather than on the design of the system. This
two day team briefing training course will explore the concepts
and benefits but above all it is designed to give participants the necessary practical
skills to maximise process benefits. The course will address the practical
issues of how to conduct team briefing sessions. It starts with an examination
of what is team briefing and why it is so important. It will consider
how to make team briefing relevant, how to prepare, how it should be implemented
and managed, what it should discuss, when and how often. As team
briefing should be viewed as an investment the course will also
consider what returns, how they can be measured and what value they will represent.
The course will allocate some quiet time to allow participants to develop
a team briefing session to be delivered to fellow course participants.
Participants will be shown how to set the scene to minimise interference. Added
to this is the importance of understanding both their own and team members reactions
to a team briefing session. This aspect aims to acquaint participants with the
physical, emotional and mental aspects of the team briefing
process. To make team briefing effective needs meticulous attention to detail,
self discipline, thorough planning and preparation, and realistic and relevant
information. In the delivery participants are reminded that successful
team briefing outcomes will also depend upon creating a participative
and problem resolution environment, with recognition and appreciation of accomplishments
and achievements . Also central to team briefing outcomes is the ability
to give and receive feedback and information without criticism. The
team briefing course concludes with participants delivering a team briefing session
to fellow course members. These team briefing sessions are followed
by review, evaluation and feedback from their peers and tutor. These reviews will
enable a tutor led surgery to equip individuals with skill enhancement where required,
for example, in assertiveness, communication, presentation, audience and meeting
management skills, etc. |
